It was dead long before that.
That was the day that it was exposed as being dead because it was the first time in decades that anyone tried to engage in it.

The United States as we knew it no longer exists. We are entering a Dark Age which will test the mettle of America’s founding stock. Whether we retreat into a more demographically homogeneous region or stand our ground and fight remains to be seen.
